Faster than a speeding bullet, stronger than a locomotive, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound....it's a bird, it's a plane.....No, it's not superman...it's Marybeth!
My little speed master has decided that climbing the stairs is now super cool. She has realized that it isn't as hard as she thought in the past. However, she doesn't climb it like most children when they first master the stairs. Marybeth is keeping to her own special way of doing things. Just like crawling and how she hates to put her knees on the ground, Marybeth refuses to put her knees on the stairs when she climbs up. So, instead of her knee, she just stretches a little farther and uses her foot. That way when she gets tired, she can easily just sit back a bit on the step and rest. Unfortunately our stairs are really not that deep so we still have to be careful and watch her.
Also on the "new" (or not so new) news front, Marybeth loves to read. Anything having to do with books is mighty fine with her. However she must sit in your lap. Not next to you, not cuddled up, but in your lap as you sit. If you try and convince her that you will lay on the floor and she can sit next to you, she will promptly push her way in front of the book, raise her little tush and plop herself down usually onto the book of your head, shoulder or face depending on which is in her way. As soon as you correct your position and are seated as you should be, then she just climbs right on board and is tickled pink. Of course she will chuckle as only she knows how to when she knows she got her way. It really is a sight to see. One of these days I ought to get it on film. MB also likes fish! While she is certainly getting to the point that she is willing to try more and more kinds of foods, she decided she had to try Rick's fish Fry the other night. Now granted it wasn't the way he would normally have liked it. Ya see, he had to teach and I sent Sammy and Ricky to the Fish Fry. Gave them money and asked them to bring one home for Rick. Sammy got a baked fish for him instead of a breaded one and when he finally sat down to eat it, Marybeth decided she had to have some. Now you have to know I do not eat fish, never have. I don't dislike it, just don't like it. Anyhow Marybeth apparently takes after dad. She loved it, couldn't eat it fast enough, however she didn't like the tarter sauce. It was hand to hand combat at the dining room table. We couldn't keep putting fish down fast enough before she would swipe it up and shove it in her mouth. We did stop it after a while much to her dismay but being her first time eating it, we figured it was better. Oh well, I must put aside my tastes in food and allow her to spread her wings. At least it's not all chocolate and sugar!
