Today Marybeth had physical therapy. She has been doing PT since she was 6 weeks, first every week then around the year mark she went to 2 times a month. Today was one of those days.
Marybeth was having a great time playing with Julie and just before quitting time, Julie asks to see her stand by herself again to judge her balance once more. I reached down and stood MB up and of course MB knows the best thing to do at this point is to clap for herself. She knows if she claps, others clap and she loves it when people fuss over her and tell her how wonderful she is. She clapped for a while then decided she was finished and took three steps in my direction for me to pick her up. These were honest to goodness, very steady, firm on her feet steps! It was so absolutely wonderful to see! It has taken MB a long time getting to this point and I know she desperately want s to walk on her own and not rely on us for everything. She loves her independence!! I was so happy I almost cried! My little baby is growing up! We got her a walker today too, a cute little pink push cart which can also be a ride on too. We figure if she is going to start walking, we'll help her along. She was cruising around with it, turning corners, sometimes seemingly running to keep up. Rick says we'll be sorry once she takes off, there will be no stopping her! I don't care. I can't wait! I'm gonna enjoy this little's one's "firsts"( and seconds and thirds) like I never really did with the others. Kind of like having my second childhood again! The other kids are bigger now and don't need my constant attention. I'm said, but I still got MB!
